Happy Camper - Our New USDA Certified Organic Dog Shampoo with Hemp
I remember the first blog post I ever read from the 2 Traveling Dogs. It made me laugh out loud and every person that I saw that day, had to let me read it to them - which I could barely get through without crying from laughing so hard. Humor is necessary in this life we live and reading about life on the road in their big ‘ol motor mansion called, “The Big Blue Treat Wagon” became part of my daily routine.
Way back in 2016, 4-Legger and 2 Traveling Dogs formed a partnership when we learned about their Adventure of a Lifetime. They were on a year-long adventure to travel through all of the 48 contiguous states to highlight rescue organizations and encourage rescue workers who are doing the hard work of rescuing animals and getting them saved into a forever home.
4-Legger supplied dog shampoo for the 2 Traveling Dogs (yes - Boy Person, Girl Person, Deputy Digby Pancake, and Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle all bathe with 4-Legger) and every rescue organization the 2 Traveling Dogs visited on their Adventure of a Lifetime tour.

We were thrilled when the 2 Traveling Dogs asked if we could make them their own shampoo formulation so they could help educate pet parents about the importance of safe and non-toxic ingredients, why a true organic dog shampoo is so important to the long term health of our dogs (and cats and other furry family members), and to help spread 4-Legger's goal to give every dog a healthy bath!
We knew we wanted the 2 Traveling Dogs formulation of Happy Camper to include hemp. Hemp shampoo for dogs is excellent for dry and itchy skin - helping to retain moisture on the skin without blocking the skin pores.
Then we reviewed the essential oils that would help to support their lifestyle:
Organic Cedar essential oil to help deter pests, and reduce the presence of bacteria and yeast as well as promoting confidence and grounding.
Organic Lavender essential oil for its ability to calm the mind, reduce the presence of bacteria and soothe irritated skin while reducing itchy skin.
Organic Calendula to reduce inflammation, tone the skin, relieve itchy skin, and mitigate dander, dandruff, hot spots and rashes.
We added a beautiful organic Balsam Fir essential oil that is steam distilled from the needles and twigs and helps to relax muscles, reduce minor pain and inflammation and clear away toxins that can clog your dog's skin pores and lead to skin issues. This uplifting essential oil smells incredible!
When we perfected the blend, we added it to our USDA organic aloe dog shampoo base of Organic Aloe Juice, Organic Saponified Oils (Coconut, Shea Butter, Olive, Sunflower, and Jojoba), Organic Vegetable Glycerin and Organic Rosemary Extract.
