Vegetable Guar Gum is used as conditioner in our organic dog shampoo Name: Cyamopsis tetragonoloba

Guar gum is a natural extract - grown from renewable resources from the seeds of the guar or cluster bean. The seeds are dehusked, crushed, screened and dried out yielding the guar gum.

When ingested, the plant has a number of beneficial properties:

  • Helps control blood sugar levels
  • Strengthens bone health
  • Lowers bad cholesterol
  • Helps maintain blood pressure
  • Improves blood circulation
  • Acts as a digestive aid

Guar gum has a number of properties when used in our formulation:

  • Serves as a natural conditioner and detangler
  • Feels like silk!
  • Makes the hair feel soft and smooth
  • Conditions without any buildup
Guar gum is one of the few thickening agents that you can use in certified organic formulations.  The downside of guar gum is that it lowers the natural lather of the overall formulation.

Guar gum is said to have more than 5x the thickening power of corn starch!

It is biodegradable and completely safe and non-toxic. In fact, you'll often find it in your food!
