Learn The Differences Between 4-Legger's Original and New Product Lines to Find the Best Organic Dog Shampoo For Your Dog

How can you select the best organic dog shampoo

We've received a lot of inquiries about the differences between our new USDA Certified Organic dog shampoo product line and our original USDA Certified Organic dog shampoo to Food Grade standards product line.

Comparing the two product lines is like comparing apples to apples. 😀

Both product lines (in our not so humble opinion) are better than 99% of the dog shampoos on the market because they have no synthetic chemicals in the bottle!

Both of our natural dog shampoo product lines are made with all safe and non-toxic all natural ingredients that are beneficial to your dog's skin and coat.

How Our Organic Dog Shampoo Is Made

To understand the difference between the two product lines you'll need a little history lesson (don't worry it is short)!

While our methods are more modern (electricity to heat instead of fire for example) our shampoo recipe goes back over 400 years before synthetic ingredients even existed. The original soap recipe uses water to keep the shampoo a liquid as water is readily available and at a much lower cost.  One big reason why our original product line has a lower cost than you might expect for organic products.

In our new product line, we've replaced the water with certified organic aloe juice so we could enhance the overall moisturizing and hydrating benefits of the safe and non-toxic aloe in our shampoo! Our shampoo doesn't just contain aloe as a single ingredient, it is actually made using organic aloe in the soap base!

For over 6000 years aloe vera has been known as the natural healer - able to moisturize dry skin, help relieve dry and itchy skin, and more.

We also added Certified Organic Shea Butter and Certified Organic Sunflower Oil!

Our cold pressed and unrefined organic shea butter is naturally rich in vitamins A and E as well as essential fatty acids and other vitamins and minerals that make it a natural emollient to moisturize rough and dry skin. Our shea butter is sustainably sourced (an added expense but better for our planet)!

Rich in Vitamins A, D, and E, sunflower oil acts as an emollient that holds moisture inside the skin cells and retains skin hydration. As a strong antioxidant, it helps to protect the collagen and elastin in the skin to improve the skin’s tone. The high amounts of Omega-6 (linoleic) fatty acid are anti-inflammatory to reduce skin inflammation and dermatitis.

4-Legger is the very first manufacturer of pet shampoos with this revolutionary new formulation and we're very proud of it!  We are especially excited that our faithful 4-Legger supporters will be the first to have access to this amazing product line!

The Special Sauce

Now that you understand what makes the base of our organic shampoo superior, let's talk about special sauce!

We love essential oils and we're true believers in their natural healing abilities. We've selected naturally extracted therapeutic grade essential oils and combined them with some special sauce!

Let's take a look at the new formulations, their special sauce and their benefits.

USDA Certified Organic Lavender Dog Shampoo with Calendula & St. John's Wort

We all know lavender essential oil not only smells great, it is a natural antibacterial with powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Lavender is used to treat common skin disorders where it can help to reduce itching, swelling, and redness to reduce skin irritation and hot spots.

Special Sauce: Certified Organic Calendula & Certified Organic St. John's Wort

Calendula helps to reduce dander, dandruff, red itchy skin, hot spots, rashes, and provide relief from dry and itchy skin.

St. John's Wort soothes sensitive skin, reduces skin irritation, soothes insect bites, and increases blood flow to the skin necessary for healing.

Energetically and emotionally, this blend will help to calm and balance both the mind and the skin.

USDA Certified Organic Lemongrass Dog Shampoo with Organic Hemp Oil
Lemongrass is known for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-fungal, and antimicrobial properties. It is a natural astringent (cleanser) with toning qualities which help stimulate blood circulation to make your dog's skin healthier. Used in aromatherapy, it is known to revitalize the mind and soul! Lemongrass is also a natural pest deterrent - for lice, fleas, and ticks.

Special Sauce:  Certified organic hemp oil to provide relief for irritated skin by providing moisturizing relief - rejuvenating the skin and helping to balance your dog's natural sebum without blocking the skin pores.

Energetically this blend can uplift and energizing the mind.

USDA Certified Organic Dog Shampoo with Organic Sweet Orange and Neem Oil
Sweet orange is packed with natural Vitamin C to repair your dog's skin and reduce inflammation. It also smells GREAT!

Special Sauce: Certified organic neem oil is a highly sustainable oil known for its ability to repel pests and provide strong anti-fungal, antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Our neem dog shampoo excels at cleaning and eliminating dandruff while hydrating the skin and improving the strength and health of hair follicles due to its high antioxidant content.

Energetically and emotionally, this blend will lift your dog's spirits and let in brightness and light.

USDA Certified Organic Dog Shampoo with Organic Peppermint and Tea Tree Oil
Certified organic peppermint and eucalyptus essential oils work synergistically to provide natural relief from bug bites, naturally repel pests, moisturize your dog's skin, and balance your dog's skin oil (sebum), awhile reducing skin inflammation.

Special Sauce: Certified organic tea tree oil reduces the presence of bacteria and fungus (yeast). It is an excellent natural alternative to medicated dog shampoo.

Energetically and emotionally, helps to build confidence and strength while uplifting the spirit and providing cooling relief.

All of 4-Legger's Formulations are Concentrated

The new formulations are silky smooth thanks to the organic aloe juice used to make the soap base and you will notice the difference on your skin. We realize they cost more to make but you’ve told us you expect the very best!  We listened and have delivered in an unprecedented way!

All of our dog shampoo formulations (original and new) are concentrated.  You only need to use a little bit of shampoo with water to get excellent lather.  We still highly recommend using the foamer bottle to maximize usage while eliminating waste.

We still love our original line of shampoos and they are sticking around as a more affordable yet still very high quality,  safe and non-toxic option. You deserve choices and 4-Legger will always provide the very best products to ensure that your dog has the safest and healthiest grooming options for a long and healthy life!
